Great Train Journeys: Royal Canadian Pacific Railway

Introducing the Pacific Railway

Take a Pacific railway journey of a lifetime: Step aboard the historic Royal Canadian Pacific train and journey into a bygone era, where luxury rail travel meets the untamed wilderness of the Canadian Rockies.

Rail itinerary
From Calgary to Banff and Lake Louise, then across the Continental Divide to Golden, Fort Steele, Summit Lake, Fort McLeod, Eltham and Obotoks.

About the Royal Canadian Pacific
Built between 1916 and 1931 the Royal Canadian Pacific's unique carriages have been elegantly restored in a classic style that allows you to fully relax in ultimate comfort.

Finished in Circassian oak from Russia with Bird's Eye maple inlay and complemented by scalloped lamp fixtures, brass radiators and Turkish drapes, each car maintains the ambience of the classic era of luxury rail travel while providing guests with the latest in modern conveniences.

Enjoy personalised service from friendly attendants and savour culinary delights prepared by talented chefs and served in an elegant dining car, amid one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world.

Accommodation
Enjoy the privacy of a luxurious wood-panelled cabin, complete with private en suite. Each cabin offers a double or twin bed, closet, luggage storage, a safe for personal belongings and a friendly and attentive cabin service. To ensure a good night's rest, the Royal Canadian Pacific stops each evening at a specially prepared rail siding.

Dining
Meal times vary to fit in with tour visits and are posted on the various railcars. An a la carte breakfast is available in the dining cars; tea, coffee and other beverages can be served in all the lounge areas or cabins. Gourmet meals are served in the Craigellachie dining room.

Dress code
Smart casual dress is required for daytime excursions and relaxing aboard the train, while business casual wear, which includes dress pants, shirts (ties optional), sweaters, cotton pants and casual jackets, is required for breakfast and luncheons. The dress code for evening dining is semi-formal: jacket and tie for men, evening dress or pant suit for ladies.

Other amenities/activities onboard
Relax in the 'Churchill Cubby', the once private office of Sir Winston Churchill, and watch the constellations slowly reveal themselves as the twilight of a golden sunset fades over the Rocky Mountains. Visit one of the lounge areas on each coach to relax and enjoy conversation with fellow travellers or just sit back and enjoy reading a book.

Prices inclusions
The price includes daily table d'hôte meals, including wine, all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Chauffeured transportation to and from the Calgary International Airport and The Fairmont Palliser Hotel, plus first and final nights' accommodation at The Fairmont Palliser Hotel on the Fairmont Gold level, dinner and deluxe continental breakfast are also included, as are any off-train tours.
